The Fadama Astroturf will come alive between May 7-8 with the 2022 Sheikh Osmanu Sharubutu Ramadan Cup.
The cup competition, which started as festive games to mark the end of Ramadan fast, has grown into a mini-tournament, attracting Zongo communities nationwide.
It has grown in leaps and bounds with the 7th edition this year pitting a whopping 28 Zongo communities across Ghana from the 8 in previous years.
The tournament has received rave reviews with government’s Zongo Development Fund [ZDF] partnering to support the event.
Chief Executive of Zongo Development Fund, Dr. Arafat Sulemana Abdulai tells Africa-foot.com of their involvement.
“It is in line with our mandate, when the Zongo Development Fund was established for a purpose.
“The promotion and the welfare of the youth in Zongo is one of our mandate and promotion of businesses in Zongo and of course unearthing talents in Zongo.
“And we realized that if we support an event like this, it is one even but your could see it is serving several purposes all of which are within our mandate.
“That’s why we feel proud to be part of this.” Dr. Arafat Abdulai told Africa-foot.com.
