Ex-Kotoko midfielder, Daniel Nii Adjei says he was not surprised about the club’s CAF Champions League exit.
The Porcupine Warriors were kicked out of the CAF Champions League after suffering a 3-1 penalty shootouts loss against Burkina Faso club, Rail Club de Kadiogo.
Both legs ended 1-1 on aggregate with Kotoko posting a 1-0 away win in Bénin and Kadiogo repeating the same dose at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Nii Adjei spoke to Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Talk Sport.
“The CAF competitions are not like playing in the normal league.
“Me I know on our local scene we take everything as a joke even when we have not finished, we start celebrating that we’ve won.
“Me I knew it will happen because going away to win 1-0 and when you come home you don’t prepare well and you start to jubilate, the one coming is serious because he is already down.
“And then CAF [competitions] we don’t win by saying I’ve won away, no, you have to finish it.
“I will say in Ghana we are always jubilating without playing it.
“We always use our mouth to beat people but football is not like so me I wasn’t surprised Kotoko went.” Daniel Nii Adjei told Radio Gold Talk Sport.
Nii Adjei previously played for Asante Kotoko, TP Mazembe, King Faisal and Elmina Sharks and he has now ventured into coaching.
