Hearts 1-0 Kotoko: Back-to-back President Cup glory, three points earned and Accra goes gay

Accra Hearts of Oak claimed a double glory – three league points and the President’s Cup over arch rivals, Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

The week 20 BetPawa Premier League game was used as the 2023 President Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium in the presence of Ghana’s first gentleman, Nana Akuffo Addo.

The Phobians earned a slim win after Congolese midfielder, Linda Mtange’s free kick was headed in by central defender, Konadu Yiadom on the 57th minute.

The millennium champions have thus chalked the President Cup trophy in two successive years and this term under the watchful eyes of assistant coach, David Ocloo who was left elated after the win.

“I told my other colleagues that, my boys promised that they are going to work their arches out and win this game and thank God they won.

“This is just the beginning, like I told you, we are going to work hard because they promised me they are going to work hard and I know and I trust them for that.” David Ocloo told StarTimes.

The Phobians share same points, 31 as Kotoko but the Porcupine Warriors sit in fourth on superior goal difference of nine as against the 5th place Hearts’ 4.

Both clubs are four points adrift of leaders and two time champions, Aduana Fc with 14 games left to draw the curtain on the 2022/23 season.
