Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko, having hailed his lads after the qualification, has opened up on Afena-Gyan saying he won’t hesitate to call him for the main tourney despite turning down a call up for the final round of qualifiers.

Ghana pounced on Fatawu Issahaku’s header to beat Algeria by 1-0 after sharing spoils in Annaba last Friday in the first leg and now through to the main tourney which will commence in three months time.
In a post-match interview, the ex- Black Stars assistant gaffer stated he spoke to Afena-Gyan’s agent on three occasions but stated his client wasn’t ready but if he is on form he will invite him for the main tourney despite turning down the initial invite.
“We gave him an invitation but he didn’t come. I think is the FA that can speak as to why he decided not to come.”
“I spoke with his agent on four occasions but he kept telling us his player isn’t ready but when it gets to the main tournament and he is playing well, why not? I will call him.”
