Ghana’s Ishmael Yartey has joined Norwegian club Alta IF for an undisclosed amount Footballghana.com can exclusively report.
Yartey has completed his medical tests and signed a deal with the Alta Idrettspark outfit.
“Ishmael Yartey is now ready for the club,” says Sporting Coordinator for Alta IF Fotball Andre Dorgset Donjar.
Alta IF currently plays in 2. division, the third tier of the Norwegian football league system.
Yartey has moved a lot in his football career. Among other things he has played for French side FC Sochaux, The 33-year-old also played in Portugal (Benfica, Beira-Mar, Fátima, Gil Vicente), Switzerland (Servette, Sion, Stade Nyonnais), USA (Portland Timbers), Finland (KPV, Haka), Saudi Arabia (Hetten), and Bahrain (Al-Hidd Club).
Yartey represented Ghana U-17 (Black Starlets) in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Korea Republic.
On 16 May 2012, Yartey was called up for two of the Ghana national team’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifications, against Lesotho in Kumasi, and on 1 June 2012 and against Zambia in Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, on 9 June 2012.
