Asante Kotoko’s roller coaster performance in the domestic top flight continued with a heavy loss at Berekum Chelsea.
The defending league champions lost 3-0 at the Golden City Park to the Bibires on match day 26 to further dent their chances of retaining the title they won last term.
The Porcupine Warriors’ troubles looked to have started following the departure of coach Prosper Narteh Ogum who led them to a grand style annexation of the top flight gong last season.
The club has grappled with poor performance and inconsistent results since then leading to the exit of Burkina Faso coach, Seydou Zerbo who replaced Ogum.
Assistant coach, Abdulai Gazale, who doubles as the youth team trainer was put in charge of affairs but his short reign has been far from impressive.
Gazale’s journey so far has seen him collect five points from his five games much to the chagrin of the club’s teeming fans and the hierarchy at large.
The defeat at Berekum Chelsea leaves the employers questioning the tactical acumen of Gazale and a contemplation of whether a substantive trainer is required with 8 games to wrap up the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League.
The record premier league holders now sit 4th on 39 from 26 matches with other games to be cleared which will see them drop down the ladder depending on the outcome.
