“I sold a family house to refurbish a football pitch at Legon” – Mohammed Polo

Ghana legend, Mohammed Ahmed “Polo” has told Radio Gold Sports that, he sold one of their family houses at Alajo, a suburb of Accra to refurbish a football pitch at the University of Ghana.

The ex-Hearts of Oak player said he took that action to develop the Ajax Park, a pitch on the University Ghana land just to have a field to train players from his football academy back in the days.

He later moved to the now non-functional Kaneshie Sports Complex which he felt was closer to town and would afford more of the young talent the chance to train with his outfit.

Polo told Radio Gold Sports about why he took that initiative.

“I started the whole thing, these are pitches that already existed, Hearts of Lions Park, Nania Park and Ajax Park.

“I came in the middle, I was in the middle and if you go there today you can see that it is one of the best pitches over there.

“It has been refurbished but I started and I even worked on it from the scratch, I spent money, I had to sell my house for that field.” Mohammed Polo told Radio Gold Sports.
