Egypt legend, Mohammed Salah says he is gutted by club, Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
The diminutive forward will play in Thursday night football after Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea at the Old Trafford stopped the Reds from securing a Champions League spot.
Liverpool will finish fifth and play in next season’s Europa League and Salah wrote on social media.
“I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.” Mohammed Salah tweeted.
United only needed a point at home to Chelsea in the penultimate game of their season to confirm their Champions League place and join champions Manchester City, second-placed Arsenal and Newcastle United as England’s contingent in Europe’s top competition next season.
