Tanzanian giants Young Africans were unable to make their home advantage count after suffering defeat to USM Alger in the CAF Confederations Cup first leg final.
The Algerian side edged Young Africans 2-1 to take first leg advantage in the 2022/23 Confederations Cup.
Head coach of USM Alger, Abdelhak Benchikha does not want to underestimate the Tanzanian club in the second leg.
“Nothing is done yet. I have experience with these kinds of matches as a coach. Yanga will come to Algeria with nothing to lose and we have to remain focused. Yes, we have a small advantage from the first leg but I know how things can change.”
He also added:
“I am happy with this positive result. We played a very heroic game and we implemented our strategy well. It was tough playing under the rainy conditions but our players showed a superb game and possibly we should have scored more.” He said as translated by Michael Mwebe.
The reverse fixture will take place at the Stade du 5 Juillet 1962 in Algeria on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
