Ghana midfielder, Mahamud Abdul Karimu says the nation needs direct decisions for the success of the Black Stars.
The Africa Cup of Nations trophy has eluded Ghana for the past 40-years with player selection being a problem for coaches in the past years.
The FC Shabab Al Ahli Dubai midfielder made the comment on Radio Gold’s Talk Sport.
“If we push them too hard for a trophy or something it’s going to be bad.
“The team generally is not ready to win anything but but we have the players who can win us something someday.
“If you don’t have the time, you keep on failing, if you don’t have the patience to develop.
“Because even going to the World Cup, most of our players were the players pulling the strings in their clubs, it doesn’t mean that we are there to win the World Cup, no we cannot.
“But the players are there in their clubs and you can see.
“Even Kamal Sowah was on the bench but at Club Brugge he is a [regular player], this is how it is, you need time.
“You need a lot of direct decisions, this one in, this one out, no consideration.
“I am a footballer and personally I’m somebody who believes in coaches and that is why I rate [Manchester City manager] Pep Guardiola.
“Pep Guardiola will tell you if a 16-year is better he is better, it’s not about age it’s not about experience.
“If the 16-year-old is a better defensive midfielder than a 30-year-old, let the 16-year-old play.
“The idea in football is always new. What the 16-year-old can see is different from what the 30-year-old can see.” Mahamud Karimu told Radio Gold Sports.
The four time Africa champions will play away to Madagascar in the penultimate 2023 AFCON qualifier in Antananarivo on June 18.
