Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Michael Akuffo says giving more time to Prosper Narteh Ogum to build a strong squad is the sure way to go for the club.
Ogum, 45, has returned to the Porcupine Warriors for a second spell after leading the side to the league title in the 2021/22 season.
The former WAFA trainer has been mandated to build a strong squad for a period before focusing on winning titles and Akuffo believes that is the best idea to proffer by the club owner, Otumfour Osei Tutu II.
“Giving him the long term to build a team before competing for CAF and then going to Africa is a god thing.
“I think this has been Kotoko’s problem for so many years, a Board will come and then after three years a different board will come and then this I think the king has heard the supporters’ plea and has come to give the work to the IMC.
“This is the best thing that Kotoko has been waiting for all these years and I’m glad that it has come and I know that this time around there no going to be pressure on the players.
“So giving the coach a free hand and giving the IMC a free hand to make sure they put a team together is the way forward for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.” Michael Akkufo told Radio Gold Sports
