Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey played full time as Arsenal romped to a perfect start to the 2023/24 English Premier League season.
Last season’s runners up nailed Nottingham Forest by 2-1 after full time at the Emirates in week 1.
Partey, Ghana’s deputy captain was deployed at right-back in Mikel Arteta’s “wild” tactics on Saturday, August 12.
The Gunners shot themselves into lead with Eddie Nketiah’s well worked out strike in the goal area after 25 minutes.
Gabriel Martinelli took on two Forest defenders with his skill unwittingly locating Nketiah who made no mistake in beating his former team mate, Matt Turner in post for Forest.
Arsenal remained resolute, keeping a fine possession which eventually fetched them the second goal from the boot of darling boy, Bukayo Saka.
The England winger latched on to the ball just outside Forest goal area and successfully swept in with his left foot into the far right corner of Matt Turner on the 32nd minute.
Forest however managed to pull a consolation from Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi with 82 minutes played.
Awoniyi tapped in a low cross from Anthony Elanga but that will not be enough to salvage a point for Steve Cooper’s men.
