English Championship side Southampton FC have reportedly opened talks with Belgian Jupiler Pro League side KRC Genk for Ghana international forward Joseph Paintsil this summer.
The 25-year-old hitman has emerged as a transfer target for the relegated English top-flight side and have started negotiations over his possible signing for the just started football season.
According to Journalist Sacha Tavolieri, ‘The Saint’ are set to offload Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu and would be interested in a swap deal with the Cegeka Arena outfit for their Ghanaian hitman.
He added that KRC Genk are also hell-bent on re-signing their former striker and are now hopeful of agreeing terms with the English side over the swap deal in the ongoing transfer window.
The former Ferencvárosi TC attacker continues to remain the best asset of the Belgian giants and it remains to be seen whether the 2022-23 English Premier League campaigners could be able to get a deal over the line soon on his acquisition this term.
Joseph Paintsil so far has 9 caps for Ghana men’s senior national team, the Black Stars on the international stage.
