Asante Kotoko legend, Ibrahim Sunday has revealed the general problem that is bedeviling his former club ad other teams in Ghana.
Kotoko recent major silverware was the 2021/22 BetPawa Premier League title with continental glory last coming 40-years ago.
According to Sunday who switched to coaching after his illustrious playing career, player exodus is contributing g to the struggles of clubs in Ghana.
The veteran Ghana coach spoke to Accra based Radio Gold.
“I don’t think it’s the only problem of Kotoko, it’s the whole club in Ghana because the exodus of players moving from Ghana to make some good living is affecting all the clubs in Ghana.
“And we have to look at it and find solution to that, either than that, I don’t think our football will rise at it was before. At the moment it is a problem for the whole nation.
“We need to sit down and make a long term planning so we move up again.” Ibrahim Sunday told Radio Gold Sports.
Sunday who was adjudged the best player in Africa in 1971 spent nine seasons with the Porcupine Warrior which he guided to the continental title in 1970.
He led the record Ghana Premier League holders to the African Cup of Champions, now the CAF Champions League title in 1983 after his retirement from the game.
Ibrahim Sunday who was the first ever African footballer to appear in the Bundesliga, coached Ivory Coast club, Africa Sports to win the African Cup Winners Cup now the CAF Confederation Cup.
