Ghana forward, Bernard Morrison has revealed why he parted ways with Young Africans.

The 30-year-old left the Tanzania club after just a season and has now signed a 1-year contract with Morocco Botola league club, AS FAR Rabat.

There were several reports of FAR Rabat’s disinterest in the former Simba SC forward but he has cleared the air over the delay in reaching an agreement with AS FAR.

“I was supposed to extend my contract with Young Africans or return to Simba SC because there were negotiations with those two clubs. Simba would have loved my return and Yanga wanted me to extend my stay.

“But the coach I met here, Nasredine Nabi told me not to renew my contract with a month to end last season because he would leave the club.

“Because he wanted to work with me at his next club so I didn’t renew my contract with Yanga and so we had to close that chapter.

“When he went to South Africa, he wanted to take me along to his new club but negotiations did not materialize over there.

“So he left and came to Morocco with AS FAR Rabat so he called to tell me about and urged me to get ready to join him.

“When he came to Morocco, AS FAR Rabat had already started pre-season and so the team’s fitness level was higher than mine.

“So I just joined a team which had started pre-season for a month and so I needed to be undertake through a different training regime to catch up with their level.

“So the technical team engaged me for two weeks so I could catch up with the rest of the playing body.

“So after two weeks I joined the rest of the team to determine the tactical aspect of my game.

“So it took a lot of time for me and the club to agree terms because the club were engaged in continental competition.

“I had to be patient for a deal to be reached because I had spent a number of days with the club.

“I had to put my pride and demands aside for us to reach an agreement with the club even though I didn’t really like their terms.

“So I decided to agree a 1-year deal because their condition could not fall in line with a 2-year or more agreement.” Bernard Morrison told Takoradi based Skyy Power fm.

Bernard Morrison has previously played for the now defunct AshantiGold in Ghana, Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Congolese sides, AS Vita Club and DC Motema Pembe.
