Medeama Sporting Club striker, Jonathan Sowah has described his maiden call-up to the Black Stars as a dream come true.
The promising striker bagged 12 goals last season for the Yellow and Mauve as they annexed the Ghana Premier League title.
In the Champions of Champions game against Dreams FC, Sowah scored both goals as Medeama lifted their second trophy of the season at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The 24-year-old has a goal in two appearances in this season’s CAF Champions League campaign.
Following his impressive performance, Sowah has been named in Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against the Central African Republic (CAR).
“When I had the call, I was so so happy. After having that call I started crying because this is a dream that I have been waiting and this is a dream that my mom (may her soul rest in peace) has been crying. She has been crying that she wants to see her son at the top…she is no more and this is what has happened so I am so happy,” he told MAX TV.
Ghana will host CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 7 in the final Group E game.
Meanwhile, Medeama SC are preparing to take on accomplished CAF Champions League campaigners Horoya FC of Guinea in the second round of the preliminary games.
