The current state of the Ghana Premier League has received varied criticisms – with player quality, television coverage, coaching and many other factors the key pointers of harsh words.
One footballer who once played on local scene is former Black Stars defender, Jerry Akaminko.
The former Heart of Lion man believes that as a much as the league needs improvement, Ghanaians must not compare those who are playing now to those of yesteryears.
“I don’t think if you compare that way it will work, it won’t work because obviously the sort of players that were playing in the league at that time compared to now, there is a huge difference.
“The maturity of the players then and now, obviously young players.
“But now they are playing at their capacity or level of whatever they will be.
“But I think there should be more room for improvement, We should try to get the league to a certain standard, like we will prepare the players to play in ant standard or level.” Jerry Akaminko told Radio Gold Sports.
